Our Roots

In September 2016, the Canadian Gas Association created the Natural Gas Innovation Fund (NGIF), an in-house project to focus its innovation agenda and targeting support for cleantech innovation in the gaseous energy industry. In 2020, CGA created CGA Enterprises, and subsequently, under CGA Enterprises, a new corporate entity called NGIF Capital Corporation (now Northreach Capital) was established.

Who We Are

NGIF Accelerator operates all NGIF’s technology and innovation programs. Our mandate is to advance the most promising enterprises in cleantech innovation and support them through their pilot projects and field trials to commercialization and market success. Through our programs, we expedite the time it takes for startups to bring their ideas from concept to commercialization. We are unique as we bring Canada’s energy industry leadership to every project.

Ventures Fund I

A $55M venture capital fund created to make equity investment in cleantech startups with a value
proposition of validation, customer creation and gas market uptake.

A $22MM Industry Granting program that provides a non-dilutive grant to cleantech startups to develop
and demonstrate a pre-commercial clean technology solution through a field trial or pilot.
