April 24, 2020 – Vancouver, British Columbia and Ottawa, Ontario
Geoscience BC and the Natural Gas Innovation Fund™ (NGIF) have announced an agreement that sets out how the two organizations will work together to co-invest in cleantech research that could deliver greenhouse gas emission reductions and boost economic development.
The memorandum of understanding (MOU) includes details on how Geoscience BC and the NGIF have agreed to implement a collaborative process to jointly consider research opportunities that could benefit the natural gas sector in British Columbia and Canada more broadly. These two Canadian funding organizations have strong alignment of their goals and desired outcomes and on their rigorous, transparent due diligence processes. The MOU also allows for the confidential sharing of information.
Over the coming months, NGIF and Geoscience BC will be encouraging their networks to discuss and submit ideas for research projects to be considered for co-funding.
“The Natural Gas Innovation Fund and Geoscience BC share many common objectives, and this new agreement sets out a framework for how we work together and make the most of shared cleantech research opportunities.”
Gavin C. Dirom, Geoscience BC, President and CEO
“A big part of NGIF’s success comes from our Trusted Partnerships which enable cleantech co-investments in Canada’s natural gas value chain where we are aligned on mandate and target outcomes. Trusted partners share risk, cut down the red-tape, and accelerate cleantech development. I am looking forward to working with the Geoscience BC team on advancing this agenda to create the greatest benefits for BC and Canada’s gas sector.”
John Adams, Managing Director, Natural Gas Innovation Fund
“Cleantech innovation is a huge opportunity right across the natural gas value chain, and this memorandum of understanding sets out how NGIF can collaborate with Geoscience BC to accelerate the process.”
